BackYardHive was founded by long time treatment-free Bee Guardian Corwin Bell. In 1995 Corwin started keeping bees due to a long time fascination with this delicate pollinator. He designed and built many top bar hives from the beginning which has lead him to gain a deep understanding of the interrelated nature of a colony of bees and the bee hive structure that best suits the bees ability to survive.
